He-Man Woman Haters Club Report: Little Girls, Girl Scouts, and License Plates

Because it would be wrong if conservatives didn't discriminate against women too:

  • In Maryland abortion protestors have started targeting a 6th grade girl, picketing out side her school and identifying her by name.  Why?  Because they want to pressure her father who is the landlord for a local abortion provider.  Nothing says "think of the children" like publicly attacking them for the 'sins' of their parents.
  • South Carolina Republican Governor Nikki Haley dismissed a female reporter who gave her some unfavorable coverage as "that little girl at the Post."
  • It's not actually Republicans fault directly, but it's pretty depressing that woman directors account for only 12% of all television directors.
  • If you thought the Girl Scouts were just about selling delicious cookies (mmmm....Thin Mints), the Religious Right wants you to know that it's really about paganism, lesbianism, and forced sex training workshops.  Or they're just completely insane and terrified by an organization that promotes the well-being of girls.
  • If you've ever wondered about which states restrict a woman's right to control her own body the most, here's a chart that shows a breakdown of which states have which restrictions.  Kudos to Oregon, Vermont, and New Hampshire who fully respect the privacy of a woman's right to make her own medical decisions.
  • Speaking of restricting a woman's right to choose, Mississippi is considering a "personhood" amendment to their constitution as an attempted end run around Roe vs. Wade.
  • In a case of a silver lining so thin it will make you cry.  The appellate court has reduced the fine against a young Texas woman who 'frivolously' sued her school after they kicked her off the cheerleading team for refusing to cheer for a man who was convicted of raping her.  Now her and her family are only going to have to pay a fraction of the original $39,000 attorney fees the school claimed.  What the hell is wrong with people?
  • CNN contributor and Republican blogger Erick Erickson thinks it's "silly" to vaccinate against HPV just because it's proven to prevent cancer and save lives.  After all, it's only the 'promiscuous' girls who are at risk, and if you're a Republican sexually active women apparently deserve to die.
  • A year after Dr. George Tiller was brutally murdered by an anti-abortion extremist, Bill O'Reilly continues to demonize the man and his colleagues.  Because repeatedly calling him "Tiller the Baby Killer" couldn't possibly have contributed to a whackjob going lone wolf and murdering him in cold blood.

That's all I can handle for today.
