- Now when Rush Limbaugh said last week that they "only have themselves to blame" he was talking about poor people. But I think this edition of Frontline of the Class War will show he might as well have been talking about the Republican Presidential Candidates.
- Take Rick Santorum for example, he said that the only reason President Obama wants kids to go to college is that "He wants to remake you in his image. I want to create jobs so people can remake their children into their image, not his." But in 2006 he ran for reelection on a platform of universal access to higher education. Then again, he also said that Obama is a drug dealer trying to get people hooked on entitlements and that people with special needs won't survive Obamacare, while also opposing prenatal screenings....which save the lives of people with special needs.
- Then there's Mitt Romney who this week told an anti-union group that if elected he would end Project Labor Agreements: "One of the first things that I will do – actually on Day One- is I will end the government’s favoritism towards unions in contracting on federal projects." Of course when he was running the Olympics in 2002 he admitted it wouldn't have been possible without unions. He also said that "we have a moral responsibility not to spend more than we take in" while his campaign is....spending more than it takes in. Of course that one's a bit murky since he also admitted last week that deficit spending is necessary to combat a recession. Chalk it up to Romney being a pandering sociopath with only the vaguest understanding of what the truth even is?
- But of course the Republican candidates will still rant about how Obama is exploding the deficit and that will cause the sky to fall. Which makes the fact that each of their tax plans will increase the debt by more than Obamas a self inflected wound.
Welcome to the Working Week!
