- Rick Santorum decided to continue his wars on both public education and universities in general, "I think it’s seven or eight of the California system of universities don’t even teach an American history course. It’s not even available to be taught." Which as a University of California graduate I found kind of surprising. In case you were wondering, the only UC that doesn't have American History courses as a GRADUATION requirement, would be UC San Francisco....our medical school.
- Rupert Murdoch's Sky News admitted that it's been ordering reporters to illegally hack into the email accounts of private citizens. But don't worry, "We stand by these actions as editorially justified and in the public interest." Because who cares about the rule of law when Rupert Murdoch says that something is "justified."
- Just a reminder that while Mitt Romney is only willing to show Americans one year of his tax returns to become President, he was willing to show John McCain 23 years of returns in an attempt to become Vice President. But hey, if you knew what was in those extra 22 years of returns you might not like Mitt Romney. And Mitt Romney wouldn't like that.
- Speaking of things Mitt Romney doesn't like, he really doesn't like it when people say he's the godfather of Obamacare: "If I’m the godfather of this thing, then it gives me the right to kill it." Now I'm pretty sure that's not actually how being a godfather works, but just in case I'm wrong I want to say on the record: "Godfather Gib, if I've ever done anything to upset you I'm sorry. Please don't kill me."
- As always Fox News lays out for us the standards set for us by our corporate and conservative masters: "If you can't pass a test to become a bus driver but you know you're still going to eat, there's a problem." It had never occurred to me that the punishment for bad test taking or an inability to drive a commercial vehicle should be death by starvation. Thank you Fox News for setting me straight.
- Fortunately for Republicans, morality is as simple as reading into the Bible whatever you want to see there (and adding it if it's not there) and then ignoring any ways society might have changed in the last 6000 years. Unfortunately for Republicans, that leaves them open to attacks pointing out the ways the budget they just passed violate clear Biblical teachings. Awkward.
