The Leftovers: Founding Fathers on Mandates, Ashley Judd on Patriarchy, and Batman

Everyone knows that leftovers are better than the original meal. Here are the news stories that didn't fit in anywhere else this week:
  • Just because Republicans feel compelled to defer to the will of the Founders in writing the Constitution when discussing the "unconstitutionality" of Obamacare (and let's face it, who better to look to than a bunch of slaveowners who didn't know what germs were for opinions on the tyranny of our healthcare system), here's a New England Journal of Medicine article examining mandates passed by the Founders, including a health insurance mandate passed by the First Congress and signed by President Washington.  They have now all retroactively become communists.
  • Speaking of strong female characters, everyone should enjoy Texts From Hillary Clinton.  You know your political comedy site has gone viral when the Secretary of State submits an entry herself.
